Willmar Public Schools preschool program engages our 3-5 year old learners through play to prepare them for kindergarten and future learning. Our licensed preschool teachers are trained in the best practices and provide a high-quality curriculum where your child’s interests drive their learning.

4-year-old preschool

4-Year-Old Preschool: Cardinal Kids 

Cardinal Kids Preschool will provide students with exposure to developmentally appropriate practices that are proven to better prepare children for kindergarten. Program goals include developing pre-reading and pre-math readiness skills, improving social skills, developing listening skills and self-help skills, improving fine and gross motor skills, and gaining self-confidence. 

Program details: 

  • Full-day program
  • Classes run from September to May
  • For children who are 4 years old by September 1 of the school year for which they are registering
  • Students will attend preschool at the elementary school they will attend, which will help ease the transition into kindergarten.

3 and 4 year old preschool

3- and 4-Year-Old Preschool: Kids Together

The goal of Kids Together is to provide children with a fun and enriching preschool program that will enable them to enter school with the necessary skills, behavior, family stability and support to progress and flourish. Kids Together curriculum supports a child's individual developmental stage of learning. We integrate opportunities for social, emotional, physical and intellectual development and enhancement.

 The half-day program runs from September to May. Information and applications for Kids Together are available in the spring of each year. Scholarships are available for qualifying families.

  • 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week options
  • Classes run from September to May
  • For children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the school year for which they are registering 
  • Offered at our three elementary schools and the Jefferson Learning Center
